This week, we’ve got a variety of undiscovered tunes from some brand new names that are sure to blow you away

In case you missed it, we’ve started a new series here on MA to feature some of the best undiscovered talent we come across each week. Drawing from various sources including fan submissions and our own curating, we’ve pulled together a list of what we think are some of the best up-and-coming tracks from artists you may not have heard of. Kicking us off this week is Nine Harmonies’ remix of Zedd & Kesha’s classic tune ‘True Colors’, an absolutely stunning tune that we guarantee will have you coming back for more from this talented duo.

Zedd – True Colors (Nine Harmonies Remix)

Zedd blew us away with the release of ‘True Colors’ earlier this spring, but New Mexico duo Nine Harmonies have given it a fresh new sound. Opening with a bright, bouncy melody that fills the room with positive vibes, the emphasis has shifted from Kesha’s stunning vocals to make room for Nine Harmonies’ unique sound.

The vocals are softened, the mood of the track changed entirely – an impressive feat, to say the least. There’s a certain shimmering feel to the tune now, and the drop definitely transports us straight to the dancefloor. Nine Harmonies have taken Zedd’s masterpiece and completely turned it upside down and inside out, breathing new life into this classic tune. The powerful emotions are still preserved, presented in an entirely new way by Nine Harmonies.

Cozway – Windbreaker

Newcomer Cozway has just released this melodic trap tune on Jadu Dala, a sub-label of Epicure. With a gentle opening, the tone is set as something serene and peaceful, but this doesn’t last for long. There’s some really unique sounds coming into play, combining organic and electronic sounds in a truly captivating way. The build-up is light and carefree, before a funky yet simultaneously hard-hitting drop hits in full force.

As the drop breaks down, we are introduced to some mechanical-noises, reminiscent of neurofunk in a lot of ways, but with that trap-driven beat that has us groovin’ along. After the second minute, things get a bit more ominous, Cozway still weaving a wide array of unique sounds together into his soundscape. Complex and unusual, ‘Windbreaker’ is unlike any trap we’ve heard before, which earned it its spot on this week’s compilation.

Kaskade – Disarm You (Anonymous Youth Remix)

This young duo from New York have had a pretty impressive run in 2016, boasting an opening show for The Chainsmokers and hitting over 75k plays on SoundCloud, but their remix of Kaskade’s ‘Disarm You’ was enough to get our attention. Anonymous Youth have amplified that innocent, youthful sound of Kaskade’s original, adding a future bass touch to the track that feels just right.

Anonymous Youth keep the original vocals, but have still managed to transform the track into something completely unique. There’s a new energy to this version, a vivacious quality that makes the track really addicting, so we just couldn’t resist sharing this one! Upbeat but still emotive, Anonymous Youth have proven they are a name to watch out for.

Ruben Young – Take Her Down

This week a certain independent singer/songwriter has caught our ears, Ruben Young from Calgary, Canada has created a sublime yet capturing craft of heart. This track reached #29 on iTunes Canada’s Pop Chart, quoting influences ranging from Adele to RL Grime. Watch out as other tracks from his debut record “The Bad Habits EP” tease more of his captivating sound.

Ruben Young has shown us what’s up with this cinematic future R&B piece. Boasting a wide vocal range and a massive low end companion, this track makes great use of vocal chops to form an incredible catch melody whilst the crisp vocals paint a warming yet compassionate scene which we’re digging. We’re loving the vibe of this track, Ruben chooses the right moment to really show off his voice; bursting into a powerful scream which really hits home.

That’s it for this week’s selection, but be sure to check out our previous lists and come back next week for more of our undiscovered favourites!
