Drum & bass legends The Prototypes have wowed us this week with the release of their music video for ‘Transmission’

Winner of Best Music Video for ‘Pop It Off’ at last year’s Bass Music Awards, we’ve come to expect big things from the Brighton-based duo. ‘Transmission’ doesn’t disappoint.

The video takes a playful approach to the way we experience sound, using paint, sand, water, and even fire to demonstrate the impact of heavy sound waves. These effects don’t just look ridiculously awesome, but also show the power of music in more than just a figurative manner of speaking.

Not only does the video capture the energy of the sound waves, but of the DJs themselves. The Prototypes are known for always bringing an unparalleled high energy to the stage, and this video portrays that perfectly. To match The Prototypes’ energy behind the decks are a squadron of talented dancers, matching every beat in perfect synchronicity. Their harsh moves match the bold sound of the track.

The track lends itself really well to the stunning visuals, between cinematic build-ups and electro-infused drops. That intense intro pairs perfectly with the movement of the sand on the speakers, and has the audience instantly enraptured. The water runs in perfect unison with the superfluous melody in the middle of the track, as does the explosion of paint on the last drop.

We love seeing how music affects each of the different elements in the video – not only is it visually stunning, but reminds us of the power of music as well. The Prototypes have created the perfect accompaniment to their already incredible tune, and we wouldn’t be surprised if they won this year’s award for Best Music Video either.
